CBS Records Press Office [vej] [by] [telefon] Biography Gasolin' If ever there has been a Scandinavian sound in rock music Gasolin' are its apotheosis. But then, it would be foolish to restrict the sound of Gasolin' to a tag like "Scandinavian sound", just as it would be the limit the Beatles to "Mersey sound". The main reason for the enormous success of Gasolin' in Denmark is that, unlike nost of that nations' groups, they make their own music, and don't go out their way to assume the sound of current British and American bands. They started in 1969 , with only minimal success, as it took the group members about a year to really settle down and start relating to each other through their sound. Today they can lay claim to being one of the most professional outfits on the road, never letting situations such as broken equipment, small audiences etc influence their performance. Come 1971 the group was really hot, and it was only a matter of time before they were spotted by an A&R man from CBS. The first album followed, with Danish lyrics. Word started to spread about Gasolin', andsales crept up around the 5,000 mark (a good figure for a Danish group) before the second album was released. When that second LP did come out things startied to happen faster, and sales this time exceeded 16,000. The Gasolin' movement was on the up and up! Their song became household favourites, with parents and kids alike avidly following their group's activities and recordings. By the time of the third album (Danish version) Gasolin' were, it is fair to say, as big in Denmark as The Beatles and The Stones ever were, and it sold over 40,000 copies in a relatively short period of time.
