KIM LARSEN & JUNGLEDREAMS Kjm Larsen and Jungledreams are sitting on a time bomb--literally. In his native Scandanavia, Kim Larsen has sold over 3 million albums (in a country of 5 million). A Scandanavian rock singer legend, this songwriter has had enormous in- fluence on many generations of Northern European music fans, from his days as guitarist and singer with Gasolin' (who released an album for Epic in 1975) to his multi-solo efforts. In fact, even the Danish prime minister opened a "Talk to the Nation" address last year by quoting the lyrics from one of Kim Larsen's best known songs! He began his rock career by quitting his job as a school teacher in 1971 and joining Gasolin'. Soon thereafter Gasolin' was signed to CBS Denmark, and for 8 years they ruled the streets with tough urban rock & roll. Over 12 albums dealt with isolation, rough characters, and other subject matter inimical to the work- ing class Copenhagen environment. After Gasolin' withdrew from the Danish rock scene in 1979, Kim concentrated on solo appearances and albums with various backing groups, enhancing his firm position as his country's best-selling artist. His 3rd solo album 231045-0637 (his social security number) sold more than 300,000 albums after its release in October 1979. By that time Kim had moved with his family to New York City. As far back as he can remember he has always been fascinated by American society and with New York in particular. From October to November 1980 he worked at Secret Sound Studio on a solo album entitled Jungledreams. Released last year in Scandanavia, France, Bel- gium, Germany and Canada, it's already a smash hit in those markets. Along with his new American band "Jungledreams," Kim Larsen is ready to make his mark in the United States. The band includes Joe Delia (arranger and producer of Kim's album, and who has worked with Janis Ian, Stevie Wonder, Grace Slick, Corey Daye, Patti Labelle and Pat Benatar); Abe Speller (noted drummer with Pat Benatar, Helen Schneider and jazz great Charles Earland); Rick Blakemore and Dennis Espantrnan. Collectively, these musicians have created the new album, Sitting on a Time Bomb, a record of heart felt rock & roll. Songs like "Rock 'n Roll City" and "Time Bomb" are filled with the everyday poetry of the streets, expressing funda- mental emotions with sincerity and irony. A cover version of Dylan's "Trangled Up In Blue," taken at a reggae clip, easily stands on its own. Kim Larsen and Jungledreams have already been performing warm up dates in clubs this past year preparing for the release of Sitting on a Time Bomb. Judging by the response, the fall-out should be immense. -8202- 51 W. 52 Street, New York, N.Y. 10019/ (212) 975-5051 Press and Public Information, 1801 Century Park West, Los Angeles, Ca. 90067/ (213) 556-4870
